Piyo was the vocalist for the Visual Kei band Gakido. He passed away following a serious car accident in which all the band members were involved in. He was 28 years old.

Biography[]

Yoshiaki Yamada, also known as piyo, was in a few bands prior to joining Gakido in 2008; however, not much is known about these previous bands.

According to Shiga prefecture police, on the morning of February 12th, 2010, the six band members of Gakido and one staff member were driving in a minivan from Osaka to Nagoya, where they had a concert scheduled, along the way, a tire had burst, causing the car to tip over. Piyo, who was in a rear seat, was thrown from the vehicle and hit his head hard, killing him instantly. Fifteen minutes before the accident, Piyo had blogged about his excitement about the ride to the concert.

After his death, the remaining Gakido members announced that there would be a flower offering ceremony for him, which took place on April 10, 2010 at Ikebukuro Black Hole. They wrote in their mail magazine that they would be waiting for everyone, as they hope to send many smiles and songs to their fallen vocalist. Piyo was eventually replaced by Kahiro, who joined the band on November 19th at their oneman live in Ikebukuro Black Hole, the same place where the memorial was held.
